Poetry and Haiku

After some heart-pumping dance moves with Mr. Michael today, the kids worked on their Haiku poetry, the first of many poetry genres we will be exploring in the months to come.  Hopefully, we will be able to cover as many as possible and eventually put them into a book for future reading.  These students have the budding talent for creative writing!

Selling it for good money.
Making twice as much.

But it can be dangerous.
People can break bones.

Chefs work restaurants.
They cook delicious dishes.
For their customers.

Accountant

Office work is hard!
But not for an accountant,
Who works there all day.

Vet

Vets are like doctors.
They help cure their sick patients.
But they're animals.

Artist

I like oil painting.
Colors are magic and fly!
I like to paint life.

Inventors

Inventors are cool.
I want to invent peace bombs.
There will be no wars.

Chef

Cook food on the stove.
Flipping eggs into the air.
Oh what fun this is!

Pilot

Tucks away, let's go!
Just like my grandfather did.
Zoomin' through the air.

Musician

Music fills the air
When you play Clarinet,
It is really fun.

Teachers

Teachers are so smart.
They are nice to all the kids.
They are so awesome.

The Storm
by Joseph

Last week, a gust had
Begun, so powerful it
Caused a big black out.

Floods began to form.
Broken umbrellas in streets.
Branches are everywhere.

Storm ended just today.
Sunshine, blue sky, and a moon
Streets are drying out.
